June 14, 2010
Hill & Markes officials have broken ground on the company's new headquarters and warehouse facility, a US$12 million undertaking that they expect will be completed by the end of March 2011, according to the Times Union.
Hill & Markes will leave its smaller facility in Amsterdam, NY, for the new site along Route 5S in the town of Florida, NY, according to the paper. The company, founded in 1906, has grown to more than 150 employees who distribute merchandise ranging from food products to janitorial supplies and paper goods.
The 150,000-square-foot building was designd by Stracher-Roth-Gilmore Architects and is being built by Malone and Tate Builders Inc., both of Schenectady, NY, reports the article.
"The family is very excited to witness the growth of our company and to be able to provide an up-to-date, energy efficient, functional, and comfortable building for our employees, vendors, and customers while improving the efficiencies of our warehouse and offices," said Andrea Finkle Packer, the company's vice president-marketing, in a prepared statement.
